Turning Interest Into Action

Solicitude for Orphans Children Support Group{SFOCSG} is a non-profit, community based charity organization, with its focus on community development. The CBO  has a defined target groups: Orphans and Vulnerable Children, Widowed, Women, People Living With HIV/AIDS and Youth. It was established in 2002 and registered in Kenya under The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection on 20th July, 2004. It is located in the Soweto slums in Kayole-Nairobi, Kenya. 

GOAL
Helping needy children, widows, women and youth in the community through education, empowerment and nurturing of talents to improve their livelihoods.
OBJECTIVE 

• To fight against the HIV/AIDS scourge in the urban slums areas.
• To enhance Behavior Change Communication (BCC) i.e. Capacity building.
• To improve the life of children and families affected/infected by HIV/AIDS living in the area.
• To help the affected community members to live positively.
  To secure the child’s future.
• To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the urban slums and the surrounding area by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organizations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, with objective of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
• To empower the community on how to be sustainable and independent financially.
• Benevolent fund- A unique low priced and high-yielding savings account will be opened for the benefit of the members, who will then contribute a certain amount to this fund, then be used in the future to loan members and also cater for the general operating expenses of the organization.
• SFOCSG also fosters partnership and collaboration between and amongst its communities through its various activities.

A society in which OVCs can overcome stigma, transform their lives, realize their dreams and develop into individuals with a desire to serve.
MISSION STATEMENT

• To facilitate community based efforts to enhance and protect the quality of life of the inhabitants, (in particular children) living in the urban slums.
• To identify the individual and collective needs of the people living in the selected slum area.
• To encourage participation of our members, in promoting the objectives of the organization.
